The Lord's Song

Because if I’m going to go back to my previous lukewarm Christian lifestyle, why did I leave it in the first place? I took a stand, made a decision to be one of His all-or-nothings. You never return, because your mind gets to a plane that is not of this world and you see the pointlessness of all the stuff you used to do so much that even if you returned you couldn’t remain because you’re so out of place…

We are wayfaring strangers. “Wayfaring” because we’re travellers, headed towards something, journeying. And we’re strangers because the world is not our home.

This is the thing. After deciding to come to Christ you do not fit into the world anymore. I make so many mistakes and I backslide, and that is the…should I say, painful thing about being lukewarm. You belong to neither place. You think you have “the best of both worlds”, when in fact you have worst of both. What is the point of going back to your old sins when you know that your conscience is going to convict you? When you know that the Spirit of God that lives in you will remind you of your promise to Him? Because you are of Him now, and there’s a battle between your flesh and your spirit.

And then what is the point of worshipping half-heartedly? You think you will only go to God when you need Him, but the thing is you receive so much more of His love and care when you spend time with Him 24/7. So why receive only half the gift, when you can have it all?

I have been there so many times, this half-life. So many times, and the conflict is ridiculous and it hurts so bad. I know many other Christians who also struggle with this, but here’s something that I heard yesterday that gives me hope:

Life is hard, but God is good.

And I will never doubt that. Keep the faith. Keep fighting, pushing, running the race.

He has already overcome the world.
